How I Turned My Passion for Interior Styling Into a Business

I’ve always loved creating beauty in ordinary spaces. What started as moving cushions and vases around in my mom’s living room after school has turned into a full business — one rooted in purpose, creativity, and faith. Not once did I think I could make a career out of interior styling.

The Genesis

Growing up in Windhoek, I didn’t know what “interior styling” even meant. All I know is that I loved to arrange, shift, and beautify things. I would pick random flowers, fabric scraps, or stones and find a way to “style” a corner of the house. It brought me peace — and joy.

After completing my studies in Finance, I worked jobs that paid the bills, but didn’t fill my soul. Still, I kept styling for friends whatever I found, rearranging rooms or experimenting affordable upgrades. I loved.

From Hobby to Business

One day, a friend called me and said, “Liisa, someone wants to pay you to style an office space.” I laughed nervously. Me? A stylist? But I said yes.

That job taught me something big: people crave beautiful spaces but don’t always know where to begin. And I realized: I could help them begin — without needing a fancy design degree or massive startup budget.

The stylist in me did that job office with low cost finds, such as furniture, and clever use of color. It wasn’t about money — it was about creativity. That’s when I knew my Shiloh is here.

Styling with Purpose

The name “Shiloh” means peace — and that’s what I aim to bring into every space I touch. I don’t just style for looks but for feeling. For families who want their homes to reflect joy. For entrepreneurs who want their salons or studios to inspire. And all the people like me who started with nothing but a dream and a few scatter cushions.

Lessons I’ve Learned

1. Start with what you have. You don’t need fancy furniture to create a beautiful room. You need creativity.

2. Consistency matters. Even when I didn’t have clients, I kept showing up — posting, learning, and practicing.

3. Purpose will attract the right people. Clients feel your passion before they see your portfolio.
